Sneak Peek: MAC Cosmetics Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Exclusives

Nordstrom Anniversary sale goodness! If you’re like me, you love this time of year because MAC always does something special for Nordstrom and I always look forward to the new palettes or sets.

I like the direction MAC is going in with these Look in a Box sets, don’t you, I think it is close in line with some I saw in the airport for the duty free buys? Each set retails for $59.50 and includes staples for each look: mascara, eyeshadow, blush and lip color. Here’s a sneek peak at each set:

Summer Fragrance Alert: Clean "Outdoor Shower Fresh"

Have you ever heard of the fragrance line "Clean?" If not you are missing out. I am one of those girls who liked to smell fresh and that is what their whole perfume line is about. They have fragrances like Simply Soap, Warm Cotton, and Fresh Laundry (which is perfect to spray on your sheets right before you have company or after you make your bed it's so inviting and gives you a warm and tingly feeling). I am enamored with this line as you can probably tell! 

They have a new limited edition scent, Outdoor Shower Fresh, perfect for the summer months it's not heavy at all, it's light, fresh, airy and just....and I don't want to sound cliche, but CLEAN!  It's Fresh, green, dewy, and exhilarating. This floral scent (but not punch-you-in-the-face-hello-my -name-is-floral) is inspired by the experience of showering al fresco, secluded by nature. Hello tarazan ladies! 

Heady exuberance and feel-good freedom have been captured and bottled in this crisp, clean, leafy-green scent. Extracts of water lily, violet leaves, and sparkling bergamot with hints of tropical rain accord and sandalwood blend into a refreshingly simple fragrance.

Don't be such a WALL FLOWER!

Okay shaving gods what on earth took so long!!!!! I having been waiting for years to see if any one of the shaving giants would finally have figured this out but they didn't go figure. They make little cartridge and razor holders that attach to shower walls but no-one thought to make a shaving cream that would do the same thing??? Tsk Tsk you guys should be ashamed; but ladies this little product is a shaving cream and razor juggling miracle! Not to mention it's more like a lotion and moisturizes skin too! What more can you ask for?

NEW Bobbi Brown Beach Club Collection

Hellooooooo Beach Babes!!!! Feel like you are at the beach anytime and anywhere with Bobbi's newest summer collection.  According to Bobbi, “Nothing says summer to me like pretty, glowing skin and shimmering lids.”  And I for one agree and this collection is definitely one worth trying.

Bobbi Brown’s Beach Club includes:

A new Shimmer Brick ($38) I love these shimmering bricks I own 2 and now 3 this one is so perfect use as individual eyeshadows or blend for a golden shimmer I even sweep some across my decolletage when wearing a summery dress. Or you can use as a highlighter or as a blush! (Beach, a mix of warm bronzes)

Long-Wearing Metallic Cream Shadow ($22) Moonstone Green – pale, shimmering green, Opal Pearl – an opalescent pink, Surf - a pale, shimmering blue, Pink Oyster – a shimmering pink Long-Wearing Cream Shadow ($22), Shore – a pale nude. I tried them all on and my favorites are Opal Pearl, Pink Oyster and Shore which I think can be used as a primer or base for the entire lid. These Shimmery, won't budge even in high tide shadows are a summer must have!

The new Fresh Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment! I am addicted to the Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment it lives in my purse, so I’m happy to see that Fresh has introduced a new shade. Even though I love Rose, I’m looking forward to something with more color to it. You know what I mean? It’s the same super moisturizing, indestructible lip balm we all know and love only with a berry plum tint to it. Are you in? This is going in my shopping cart now…

5 Cool New Ways to Use the Beauty Stuff You’ve Already Got

If you’ve got any of the following, please raise your hand: flatiron, lip gloss, hair elastic, face mask, blow-dryer. OK, so that’s pretty much everybody (you can put your hands down now!). Here’s how to put more pennies in that piggy bank instead of being tempted to buy another product: Make the stuff you already have pull double-duty!

Here are three of our favorites tricks for repurposing a product:

1. If you’ve got…lip gloss:

Pretty your pout and use it to prime your lids to make eyeshadow last longer.

2. If you’ve got a…hair elastic:

Make a super-stylish pony, or keep your makeup bag organized—group your glosses, pencils or brushes together. No more rummaging around in the black hole (otherwise known as your purse).

3. If you’ve got a…flatiron:

You usually straighten with it, but make curls by clamping a skinny flatiron around a small section of hair, rotate once and glide down to ends. Continue in small sections all over until you’ve got a head of pretty, beachy waves!

Estee Lauder Acquires Smashbox!

Estée Lauder announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics. The acquisition is expected to close in July 2010, subject to certain conditions, including regulatory approval. While terms of the deal were not disclosed, the Company said that the transaction is expected to be accretive to earnings in fiscal year 2011, before transaction and integration costs. 

The Smashbox brand, with its unique equity positioning, is a strategic complement to The Estée Lauder Companies’ portfolio of leading prestige cosmetic brands. Smashbox’s significant presence in assisted open-sell environments and specialty distribution channels will expand The Estée Lauder Companies’ product offerings and reach new and younger consumers in these high-growth prestige channels.  Additionally, The Estée Lauder Companies will leverage its extensive international experience as it seeks to grow the brand and engage Smashbox’s expertise in digital and social media to advance its current capabilities, an important and growing competency for the Company.

I'm excited to see how this pans out. It's a fantastic coup for EL and I wonder what (if any) changes are ahead for this LA studio-style makeup brand.

Marc Jacobs Just Got Bigger!

Marc Jacobs just got bigger a bigger bottle that is!!!! 

Marc Jacobs is back at it again with the release of his popular summer Splash fragrances – this year in Apple, Pomegranate and Biscotti. If you’re looking for a lighter summer fragrance, you should start your search with these. Inspired by the decadence of a patisserie shop (a French bakery!), these scents are indulgent and enticing — but incredibly fresh and light. Making it the perfect summer fragrance!

I’m currently in love with the Apple, it’s such an interesting scent. It’s actually a more masculine scent in my opinion – it’s very energetic and not overly fruity or floral. The notes include apple zest, lemon and grapefruit combined with rosemary, jasmine, magnolia, coriander and cardamom.
